The last 6 months started with an ambitious goal to run a 50 miler. The longest run before Janet started on this journey was 13 miles. With the help of ultra runner and coach Ian Sharman and plenty of support from a loyal audience, friends, and family, she was able to race in the American River 50 and tell us all about it on this show. The American River 50 was all we could have asked for and more. Gutty and emotional runs for for both Krystal and Janet. Family, friends, and a nice warm day to run a beautiful course. Krystal is only a week away from her first 50 miler after training for 6 months. The last week is comprised of nerves and "what if's" but staying true to yourself is as important as any training. Is a massage a smart thing before the race? If so, how soon? What about nutrition? What changes should be made and how should you approach your diet the last week?
